Book Review: FEED
Let me start this off by saying the only thing I can say about this book: One Hell Of A Ride!
Mira Grant’s first release in the NewsFlesh trilogy is a rollercoaster ride of action and emotion. She has captured the Zombie apocalypse in it’s most raw format and dishes it out on discs of pure saw blade lethality. An excellent beginning to what promises to be a thrill ride of a series.
Without giving too much away, I’ll give you the rundown of this book. It begins simply, 26 years after the outbreak of the Kellis-Amberlee virus (Much virological research has gone into the effects of this virus.) and the walking dead have become a constant presence in everyday life. Technology has continued it’s steady march forward, hastened by the crisis, and the techies of the world still have a job. Online bloggers have become the worlds foremost runners in the business of capturing, reporting and hyping the news. And this tale follows a group of three young bloggers (Shaun and Georgia Mason, and their tech guru Buffy) as they embark on one of the highest honors that has ever been bestowed on the blogging community: Being selected to follow Senator Ryman on the campaign trail to the oval office. This is such a high honor for them because it has never been done before. In this slightly high-tech version of post-apocalyptica the zombies are not the only threat to the human race. Somewhere deep in the recesses of the American populace a darker ideal takes hold and the plot sickens with espionage and terrorism. Grant gives us everything that could be wanted from a political thriller, and all the shambling action we so from the undead. The main characters are fresh, funny, and easy to identify with. I highly recomend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery/suspense novel and to EVERYONE who can’t live without the shuffling footfalls of the risen dead. All and all a success story for Mira Grant.
FEED is Book One in the NewsFlesh trilogy. It is soon to be followed by DEADLINE in May of ’11 and BLACKOUT in May of ’12. You can visit Mira Grant for updates and news about the series or head straight to Amazon and pick yourself up a copy today!

That sounds so interesting on so many levels that I may have to attempt reading while in the middle of both the Kim Harrison Rachel Morgan series, and the Jim Butcher Harry Dresden series. Oh and the Dragonlance Chronicles Second Generation on loan to me by a co-worker. Sheesh I have a LOTTA reading to do!!! Dang you mister “let’s give her another series to get into!” : }

I’ll tell ya now that you will NOT be disappointed with taking the time out to read it. Weighing in at 599 pages, it looks bigger than it reads. The plot is tense enough that you never find yourself wandering from it.
How far are you in the Rachel series? I love those books. We need to get together soon so we can discuss some of this stuff!! I leave here on friday, so I will be home starting Sat.
Speaking of dresden, which I have read a few of, I also have another series you might be interested in along the same lines. Very british, and very amusing.
